Ghanaian chef Elijah Amoo Addo is on a mission to feed his nation on the excesses the food industry creates.
Chef Elijah Amoo Addo is Chef, Food Stylist, Social Entrepreneur, Tv Host and Recipient of the 2017 Queens Young Leader Award presented by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace for his contribution towards social development across the commonwealth. Chef Elijah Amoo Addo is the founder of Food for All Africa programme,a social enterprise which operates West Africa’s first community food support in Ghana by using advocacy and mobile application to create sustainable means of nutrition for vulnerable children and communities through food recovery, redistribution, farming and forum for stakeholder’s within Ghana’s food supply chain. Today Food for All Africa is gradually becoming West Africa’s leader in creating efficiency and food supply efforts to the low income, poor and hungry.
Chef Elijah is using his experience in the catering industry to champion a series of community food initiatives supporting vulnerable people. In 2012, he started Chefs for Change Ghana Foundation which arranged for surplus food from the hospitality industry to be used to provide food for people with mental health issues, pensioners and children in need. Elijah later left his job as a head chef to set up Food for All Ghana, West Africa’s first food bank. Since launching in 2015, the organisation has recovered more than $10,000 worth of food products to feed and support almost 5000 beneficiaries across five regions in Ghana.
